In 1963, Prometheus Student Engineering Bureau at the Kazan Aviation Institute developed “Prometheus-2”, a raster-based light instrument with spatial light movement. A 24 × 5 metre screen concealed 120 cassettes, each containing five lamps of different colours. Five control consoles allowed operators to shape and move areas of light across the screen in time with the score. In 1963 and 1964, the instrument accompanied music by Alexander Scriabin, Modest Mussorgsky, Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov, Igor Stravinsky and Farid Yarullin. The project team included Yu. Kovalenko, S. Andreev, R. Akhtyamov, V. Makarov, Bulat Galeev, R. Daminov, V. Ushakov, I. Prostatov, N. Vorobyov and N. Volkov.
